Nothing says “Happy Holidays” like a hand-crafted cocktail made with love and care! I have been lucky enough to team up with the ladies of Root 23 Simple Syrups to bring you this collaborative blog post and share THREE cocktails to kick off the holiday season. Since 2015 Barb and Leah have been providing Ohioans (and beyond) with these hand-crafted, all-natural flavor infused simple syrups. Supporting a locally, female owned business just brings me so much joy and I hope you love what Kyle and I have created for you here on the blog today!
We were lucky enough to receive not one, but THREE syrups from Root 23 which really got the creative juices flowing when it came to what we wanted to present to you all here on the blog. We chose the Vanilla Ginger, Maple Cinnamon and Cucumber Habanero flavors because we knew those would pair well with flavor profiles of the liquor we have on hand here at home and because they were fairly festive but would also be recipes you could create and use throughout the year. Today we’ll be sharing how to create a Cinnamon Maple Whiskey Sour, Pear Vanilla Ginger Gin Fizz, and a classic Spicy Cucumber Habanero Margarita. Buckle up friends, it’s going to be fun and tasty ride!
Cinnamon Maple Whiskey Sour
- Bourbon of your choice – 2oz
- Maple Syrup – 1oz
- Maple Cinnamon Syrup from Root 23 – 1oz
- Squeeze of Fresh Lemon
- Toasted Cinnamon Stick, Ground Cinnamon and Lemon Wedge for Garnish
Stir together the bourbon, maple syrup and simple syrup. Add squeeze of lemon and stir again. Pour over ice, garnish and serve.
Pear Vanilla Ginger Gin Fizz
- Gin of your choice – 2oz
- Vanilla Ginger Simple Syrup from Root 23 – 1oz
- Pear Syrup – 1oz
- Soda Water
- Sliced Pear, Sliced Cucumber, Cinnamon and Sugar for garnish
In a shaker add ice, gin, vanilla ginger syrup, and pear syrup and shake until well mixed. Prior to pouring rim glass in cinnamon/sugar mixture. Pour over crushed ice and top with soda water. Garnish with sliced pear and cucumber.
Spicy Cucumber Habanero Margarita
- Tequila of your choice – 1oz
- Orange Liqueur of your choice – 1/2 oz
- Cucumber Habanero Simple Syrup from Root 23 – 1oz
- Lime Juice – 2oz
- Lime wedges for garnish
In a shaker add ice, tequila, orange liqueur, simple syrup and lime juice. Shake until well blended. Serve over ice and garnish with lime wedge.
We had the chance to make and photograph (Thanks for being an amazing hand model Jennifer!) all these yummy cocktails with members of our quarantine pod and everyone loved them, especially the extra layers of flavor from using the delightful simple syrups from Root 23.
